Dear Ms. Elizabeth: As you have probably read, I have been outspoken about the need to do justice to the Hacienda Luisita's farmer-beneficiaries. I have been sending proposals to Manny Villar (through his kin assigned to work with our Southern CA-based coalition) about "liberating Hacienda Luisita" within the first six-months of his presidency. I have written this article that expresses the initial steps that will be needed to "Liberate Luisita" on or before Christmas Day 2010 (this year), US-based Supporters Urge Manny Villar to Target Distribution of Hacienda Luisita to Farmer-Beneficiaries Before Christmas 2010 URL: I have received a feedback from the campaign organization of Manny Villar. Mr. Villar needs more data on how Overseas Filipinos can assist a Villar Administration comply with the promise of "Liberating Luisita" within six months (provided the Philippine Department of Justice under a President Villar can persuade the Supreme Court to lift a Temporary Restraining Order obtained by the Cojuangcos-Aquinos stopping the distribution of the hacienda to the farmer-beneficiaries). I hope to post a second article today that will contain more details of our said proposal. You and many well-meaning Filipinos will agree with us that -- IF and WHEN -- Manny Villar will promise to distribute the Hacienda Luisita to its farmer-beneficiaries on or before Christmas 2010, the presidency is his for the taking. Noynoy Aquino cannot promise anything about delivering the Hacienda Luisita even before his six-year term of office ends. The plan to liberate the Hacienda Luisita or or before Dec. 25, 2010, will be part of the "Covenant with the Overseas Filipinos" that a President-elect Villar will have to sign with our group and other representatives of the Overseas Filipinos. Yes, there can be no justice in the Philippines without doing justice first to the farmer-beneficiaries of the Hacienda Luisita. There can be no real land reform in the Philippines without doing it first in the Hacienda Luisita. There can never be a successful drive against poverty if there can be no concrete steps in alleviating the plight of the poor of Hacienda Luisita. After we liberate the Hacienda Luisita, then we turn to solving the bigger problems in the island of Mindanao and other poor regions of the country. Liberating Luisita means defeating first the forces of the Imperial Manila and its feudal landlords as represented by the Liberal Party slates headed by Noynoy Aquino. Finally, why am I so concerned about Hacienda Luisita? Because my daughter-in-law, the mother of two of my seven grandchildren, hails from Tarlac City and I do not want my grandchildren to grow up with the violence and oppression continuing to happen in the Hacienda Luisita. Please join our "Liberation" Task Force for Hacienda Luisita and together, we will overcome injustice, the killings and the slavery being done by the Cojuangco-Aquino-led forces. Mabuhay, Lolo Bobby M. Reyes Cofounder, Overseas-Filipino Liberation Army for Hacienda Luisita (OFLAHL) In a message dated 4/18/2010 8:56:41 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, maria.embry@ Thanks, Lolo Bobby for the weblinks. helps a research junkie like me not to go all over the 'net although, I have been vocal against Noynoy, I have not really campaigned for any other candidates. Simply, my sentiments are for the Hda Luisita farmers, especially for the massacre & also for the other victims who lost their lives in the Hda Luisita land conflict always remember that sense of justice is rooted in conscience. the farmers cry for justice will never die whether Noynoy gets elected president or not. these are the cries that will will eventually be heard in heaven I was a former resident of Hda Luisita & the plight of the farmers is embedded in my psyche. folks may talk all they want, but there is nothing compared to events experienced, these are the memories that hurt, the memories that call for justice that trancends politics Sincerely, Maria Elizabeth
