As a filipino, I never thought of myself as hispanic. It was when I met a girl who was from South America who told me that yes Filipinos are hispanic. Who am I to argue since she herself a spanish speaking person consider me hispanic despite my inability to speak spanish. I would like to point out also that there are areas in the Phil that Spanish is actually spoken. Some say it's 'broken spanish' but it is still a dialect of spanish. I don't know where Jacquelita comes from in the Phil, but where I used to live in Cebu, there were a pretty good number of mestizo looking people. I would say that at 80% Filipinos have some Spanish blood in them. Many a drop or two of blood but nonetheless it is there. I am sure not all people from Mexicans or other Latin America countries have Spanish blood. What about the natives that never intermarried? So my personal conclusion is that I am hispanic maybe not your typical hispanic. Thanks for reading.
