The belfry (tower) of the Sts. Peter & Paul Cathedral sa Sorsogon (now City) toppled over. There were @ least 20 dead w/ 44 injured & 80% of the old bldgs. in Sorsogon were destroyed. Estimated damage amounted then to $1-million (then PHp 2-million) but now worth probably more-than PHp 200-million (in 2011 valuation). Data from postings of then United Press Int'l (UPI).
