T he “ALLIANCE for a JUST and LASTING PEACE in the PHILIPPINES” (AJLPP) and the mainstream “Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER)—Los Angeles” have joined the Gabriela (GABnet) and other Filipino-American activist groups in organizing a protest against the presence of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA) in the United States. The rally organizers urge all freedom-loving activists, community leaders, workers, students and veterans to join them tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. in staging a picket and rally in front of the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, 6101 West Century Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90045.

The “instant coalition” bannered now by the AJLPP, ANSWER-LA and GABnet-LA will demand a stop to the “US War on Terror in Mindanao,” the crackdown on the progressive movement in the Philippines and the resumption of the peace talks between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the MILF/NDFP.

The rally and picket may become the biggest single demonstration against a Philippine  President in the entire United States and in the Filipino-American history.

Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) - Los Angeles:

The AJLPP strongly condemns PGMA and her status as the American-controlled puppet that knows no bounds. The AJLPP denounces the genocidal war in Mindanao that has affected more than 611,000 people over the past four months.

The AJLPP will picket Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's presence in Los Angeles to underscore the fact that the United States’ war on terror is causing misery and terror in the Philippines with more than 1,200 activists killed, more than 200 people jailed and with more than 200 people declared missing.

PGMA is the American Puppet Par Excellence

Last year, PGMA subserviently conferred the Philippines' highest awards to some American congressional leaders in expectation of the passing of the Filipino Veterans Equity Bill. It did not pass and the promised benefits were removed from SB 1315. President Arroyo gave the awards in anticipation of the passage of the Filipino Veterans Equity bill and in order to grab the credit from real activists in the US. But the United States Congress has yet to reconcile the two different versions passed respectively by the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

The AJLPP demands the end of the war in Mindanao and for the Arroyo Administration to resume peace talks.

Join us to protest US Puppet Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo!
