(Part Two of a Final Series on the 2008 Presidential Elections)
F ilipino-American poet-pundit Fred Burce Bunao calls abortion the “Great American Holocaust.” Mr. Bunao says the Holocaust during World War II that resulted in the deaths of more than six-million Jews is nothing if compared to this American Holocaust. It has been estimated than more than 50-million fetuses were aborted since the United States Supreme Court gave the thumbs up to abortion in the Roe v. Wade case. Yes, abortion is hurting the fabric of American society. It polarizes also the division between those who believe in the sanctity of life and the women who think that they can do anything they please with their bodies. And the Democrats, especially Sen. Barack Obama, support the Pro-Choice Movement, as if the Unborn has the choice between life and death.
The issue of abortion prompts many Christians, especially Catholics, to support the Pro-Life platform of the Republican Party. In the close election of 2000 in the State of Florida between then Gov. George W. Bush and Vice President Al Gore, it was actually the issue of abortion that made Mr. Bush the winner. I wrote in this essay Advent and Abortion: A Christmas Message for George W. Bush and the American People that “many Americans thought that Mr. Bush's stand on abortion made him win close electoral contests. We were told that in the Great State of Florida alone, many Filipino-American Democratic voters cast ballots for candidate Bush, as they liked his advocacy against abortion. These Filipino Americans said that it was ‘time for them to be Good Catholics, rather than Good Democrats’.”
Perhaps, presidential history will repeat itself in what is becoming a heated-and-close 2008 presidential contest between Senators McCain and Obama. It should be the obligation of voters who respect the sanctity of human life to continue having a Republican President. The Pro-Life Movement needs the Oval Office to continue the efforts of President Bush in reducing the number of abortions. President Bush told the participants of the March for Life Rally: "Our history shows that a cause rooted in human dignity and appealing to the best instincts of the American people cannot fail" The President said also: "We're heartened by the news that the number of abortions is declining." E ditor's Notes: Here is the hyperlink to a comparative study of the declared positions on abortion and the track records of Senators John McCain, Barack H. Obama and Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin (as sent to this website by Engr. Ed Navarra of Detroit, MI):
Here is documentation about the issue of abortion and Mr. Obama. “In 1999 a gruesome discovery was made that an Illinois hospital was shelving babies to die in a soiled utility room who had survived their abortions. Please read Jill Stanek's Story as may be found in this hyperlink: http://www.bornalivetruth.org/jillstory.aspx
Once again, to view Barack Obama's actual voting record on the issue of the “Illinois Born-Alive Infants’ Protection Act” and its federal version, please go to this link http://www.bornalivetruth.org/obamarecord.aspx
Yes, Senator Obama lately tried to evade his pro-abortion tract record by stating that the issue is “above his pay grade.” Mr. Obama will say anything and even distort the truth just to get elected President. Can America afford a Pro-Choice President, who will continue to condone the “Great American Holocaust”? # # #
