T he Overseas-Absentee Voting (OAV) Secretariat announced that as of 5 March 2009, a total of 13,350 Overseas Filipinos have registered for the 2010 National Elections based from all Philippine Foreign Service Posts.
F or the month of February, the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, California, registered the highest OAV registrants at 1,073, closely followed by Hong Kong SAR (1,007) and Toronto (848). The Honorable Rafael E. Seguis, Undersecretary for Special and Ocean Concerns and Chairman of the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Secretariat, in a fax message commended the “Post’s creative efforts and initiatives in promoting the on-going OAV registration and its endeavor in encouraging Filipinos to register are worthy of emulation.”
