ESCAPE FROM BANGKOK Stranded Filipinos in Bangkok on Monday morning board a double-decker bus that will take them on a 10-hour journey to the northern city of Chiang Mai where they will board flights back to Manila. A 433-seater Philippine Airlines flight left Manila at 2 p.m. for Chiang Mai and was expected to get there at 5 p.m. and return to Manila at around 11:30 p.m. Monday. NOEL VELASCO

BIR shortfall widens to P26.54B

The collection shortfall of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ballooned to P26.54 billion in the period from January to October from P18.89 billion as of September, forcing the national government to rely on more privatization proceeds to stay within its target limit for the budget deficit this year, government documents showed.
