Why I am Supporting Barack Obama
11/05/2008    02:04 AM ET

SACRAMENTO, CA., Nov. 5, (PinoyGlobal) - Last October 7, 2008, I
withdrew my endorsement of John McCain and endorsed Barack Obama
for President of the United States. News of my support for Obama
spread like wildfire in the Filipino-American community. After all, I have
been known to be an active and loyal Republican for the past 25 years.
I sent the following message by email to the members of the Executive
Council of the National Federation of Filipino-American Republicans
(NFFAR), an organization which I founded in 2004:

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, Nov. 3 (Pinoy GLobal) - Joe De Venecia has
decided to shed his serpent scales to become a turncoat against
corruption.  If his repeated rancid announcement to reveal Pres. Arroyo's
anomalous deals happen, then the Arroyo government would be
crumbling down soon along with the president he hates to the core. For
a teaser he says he will endorse the impeachment complaint of his son
Joey III because "I think national interest is the issue here more than
the conflict of interest".

NEW YORK, Nov. 7 (PinoyGlobal) - The historic election of president-elect
Barack Obama in the U.S. posits the question - what is impossible yet?
His momentous success electrified the world especially among democratic
nations. This landmark event wherein someone of black parentage could
comfortably hurdle the seeming brick wall to the U.S. presidency proved
in no uncertain terms that fear of the impossible is fiction in juxtaposition
to reality in a democratic society.

Telltale Signs / The Two Impostors      11/06/2008    09:29 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6 (PinoyGlobal) - When he heard the news on
election night on CNN that Barack Obama had just won the presidency,
my 17-year old son, Eric, wanted to scream. “I want to call all my friends
and celebrate this moment,” he said. He was ecstatic. He was joyous. He
felt hopeful.
Eric had been gloomy and despondent over the past two months, deeply
concerned about whether he and his generation had any hope for their
future, weary of news of an economy that was going through a deep
recession, with the ranks of the unemployed growing by legions. He
openly wondered what the point would be of going through college if
there were no jobs available for college graduates.

GMA’s Game Plan: Deal Or No Deal 11/12/2008    08:12 PM ET

NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 13 (PinoyGlobal) - From all indications Pres. Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo is going to abide by the constitutional mandate of one
term. She will step down after her term expires in time for the next
election. That much is certifiably clear unless she opts for a bloody
confrontation to remain in power. But even the possibility of her
capitulating is a problem because it would be on her terms. Having the
edge of exercising the right to step down or fight all the way through a
messy coup staged by supporters with military involvement on her side,
that probability too is obscure. Most certainly Gloria will impose
conditions prior to giving up the presidency or there will be no deal!

10 Ways to Pray for Barack Obama 11/12/2008    08:09 PM ET

Whether you are happy about this week's election results or not, all
Christians must unite in prayer for our new president. Please don't
forsake this responsibility. It's over. We've reached the end of the
longest, angriest and most nerve-wracking presidential campaign in
American history. Finally the "I approved this message" ads have
ceased. The endless robot phone calls have stopped ringing. The
debates, and the annoying post-debate comments from "experts," are
history- until the next election cycle.

DALLAS, HOUSTON, Nov. 14 (PinoyGlobal) - In his mantra of “Change has
come to America, This is our time, Yes we can!”, Barrack Obama made
history last Nov. 4 as the first American of color to break the race barrier
and win the highest post in the land. But will the presumed blessings
from the historic elections be felt by Filipinos and Filipino-Americans? As
the folksy defeated vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was prone to

NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 16 (PinoyGlobal) - I do not have to emphasize here
how serious is the economic melt down happening in the U.S. The whole
world knows about it and is feeling the impact of its disastrous effect. In
fact the economic fallout emanating from this country has reached
distant shores covering Europe, Asia and even Russia. This is really grim
and a far cry from the stable economy America used to enjoy only a few
years ago. Now she is in one of her most critical historic economic
recession. The only way I could make rhyme or rhythm of this chaotic
situation is by way of analogy.

Golez: GMA Does Not Favor Corrupt Officials
11/20/2008    07:12 PM ET

NEW YORK, NY, Nov. 20 (PinoyGlobal) - It's grossly insane to condemn
government officials on the misconstrued notion that it is public service
oriented. That would be an aberration, which can very well come under
the category of calumny, imputing wrong doing to a person who could
very well be innocent, just to besmirch his reputation. This is strictly a
no-no in journalism. Speaking for myself, I try hard to stick by the canons
of journalism making fairness and prudence the hallmark of my
columns. I only criticize when it is absolutely necessary and when others
are anemic of the moral courage to expose public functionaries
committing graft and corruption.

NEW YORK, N.Y., Nov. 24 (PinoyGlobal) - As a doctor I am alarmed to
know that 60% of 60,000 doctors surveyed by Fox News, are about
ready to call it quits because they are not happy. This is disturbing
because of the negative impact will be on the lives of people who need
medical care all over the United States. According to the Fox News
survey these doctors want to retire earlier or cut their working hours and
they don’t recommend it as a career for their children, friends or
anybody because the practice of medicine is no longer as respectable

WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 26 (PinoyGlobal) - Car manufacturing, like the
housing market, is one of the top job creators in any economy. The
sub-industries connected to it could be endless.
There are 1,700 to 2,200 parts in an average vehicle, so that alone will
give you a fair idea of how many factories collaborate just to put one
vehicle on the road. And when they are there, how many shops and
business are there to service it during its life? How many other products
are there that are related to motoring like traffic lights, guard rails and
Jersey walls, highways and rest stops, motels and restaurants, parking
lots, gas stations and tire shops, restrooms and car washes, oh
really endless...?

NEW YORK, N.Y., Nov. 27 (PinoyGlobal) - Of late, former House Speaker
Jose De Venecia Jr. has been ludicrously invoking principles, which are
incongruous to his checkered background. He tries to project himself as a
man of integrity without showing the usual goose pimples that
accompany the barefaced hypocrisy despite the citizenry knowing how
insatiably corrupt he is. His chutzpah is not even subtle as evinced by
the theatrics of sainthood he puts on only because the hypocrisy suits
his predicament.
