"Voices from Within" is this year's general theme, to highlight the emergence of a new breed of local authors whose first-time works will be collected in a rich treasure trove of personal experiences as they struggle in their life-long journeys from the Philippines to the United States.
From the "Pearl of the Orient Seas" to the "Land of the Free", the books of the same titles give recognition to the authors themselves who draw from their individual experiences lessons in the pursuit of each person's American Dream.
Dr. Maria Lourdes Reyes, OVOV founder, said some of the authors will read excerpts from their books during the celebration at the San Diego City Council Chambers, 202 "C" Street, 12th floor, on June 6, Wednesday, from noon to 3 p.m.
The event will be telecast live on Channel 24. A light lunch will be served at noon. Admission is free and open to the public.
