The editor of the www.mabuhayradio.com received today an e-mail from Mr. Rafael Lopez of the ABS-CBN.

Dear Mr. Reyes,

This is in reference to the email you sent to us dated January 7, 2008.

On behalf of ABS-CBN, we would like to thank you for taking the time to write to us.We fully understand your concern and strongly assure you that it has never been our intention to malign anyone’s ethnicity which you felt was portrayed in the “Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo” movie.  The production staff of Star Cinema has worked very hard to develop and create a film that brings cheer and happiness to the millions of Filipino viewers worldwide.

There may be instances when our attention is called for alleged acts or remarks that may be deemed offensive or malicious. Different people have different opinions, but the objective of the movie is to provide general and wholesome entertainment to all members of the Filipino family.

We at ABS-CBN have always strived to provide our valued customers nothing but the best in Filipino entertainment. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Thank you for your continued patronage and support.

Yours truly,

Rafael Lopez

In turn the MabuhayRadio.com thanked Mr. Lopez for his e-mail and sent also the following reminder about the proposed boycott of the advertisers in the ABS-CBN TV network:

Thank you, Mr. Lopez, for your e-mail in acknowledgment of our stories about the controversial movie that your company produced.

Our coalition in Los Angeles, California, is simply waiting for the go-signal from concerned Cebuano and Visayan community and national-political leaders to begin the boycott of the advertisers in your Pay-TV channels in the United States.

We suggest most respectfully that you please issue the apology and delete the offensive phrases in the said movie. Perhaps you should contact Philippine Sen. Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr., who is now spearheading the protest on behalf of his Cebuano and Visayan-speaking constituents.

Mabuhay,

Bobby M. Reyes, Editor, www.mabuhayradio.com,

Member, Cebu Brotherhood, Inc,, of Los Angeles, CA,

Former Chairman of the Board, Leyte-Samar Association, Inc. of Los Angeles, CA.,

and Co-founder, Sorsogon Province Association of USA

PS: We will publish this dialogue in the www.mabuhayradio.com
