Nuvision Worldwide Media Launches Enterprise; Unprecendented Gathering of Filipino Artists to Celebrate First Annual “Visionary Awards” at Kodak Theater
A “New-kid-on-the-block” production company, NuVision Worldwide Media, LLC, will launch its foray into the entertainment capital of the world with a historic celebration of Filipino and Filipino-American achievement in entertainment. It will produce and present the First Annual “Visionary Awards” on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the world famous Kodak Theater, home of Hollywood’s biggest events. The multi-entertainment company is involved in international as well as mainstream music, films, soundtracks, videos, live events, concerts, promotions, sales and marketing.
Says NuVision Chairman and CEO Ramil Q. Gonzales, “we want to give a NEW vision and appreciation of Filipinos to the world, particularly in the entertainment industry. We want to make a difference in this industry and by awarding those who have achieved excellence in their respective fields --- television, film, music, etc. ---- we hope to bring pride and recognition to honor those who have put Filipinos on the map. And not just the Filipino-Americans who have made a difference here in Hollywood, but those from the Philippines whose contributions to promote our talents have uplifted the profile of Filipinos in the arts and entertainment.”
One component of NuVision Worldwide Media, LLC. is to develop and expand its projects, affiliations, associations and programming to involve Filipino and Filipino-American talent and to provide content to Philippine counterparts as well as other Asian markets worldwide.
A cadre of Philippine-based entertainers and performers have already accepted the invitation to appear at the star-studded event, including:
Philippine Senator Robert Jaworski (Lifetime Achievement Award for Sports & Public Service);
Tito, Vic & Joey (Outstanding Variety Show Hosts);
Francis Magalona (Pioneer Award for Music);
Bong Revilla (Visionary Award for Honor & Courage);
Manny Pacquiao (Athlete of the Year);
Philippine Senator Ramon Revilla, Sr. (Vanguard Award for Entertainment/ Action Performances);
Others that have been invited to attend from the Philippines include Sharon Cuneta (Legend Award for Acting), Dolphy (Vanguard Award for Entertainment/Comedy), Bea Alonzo (Outstanding Performance – Actress), Richard Gutierrez (Outstanding Performance – Actor), Christopher de Leon (Legend Award for Acting) and Vilma Santos (Legend Award for Entertainment).
They, along with other Philippine entertainers, will be joined by an array of Filipino-American artists who have been invited to attend the first of its kind awards, including Apl.de.Ap (Vanguard Award for Music), Lou Diamond Phillips and Tia Carrere (both have been awarded the Visionary Vanguard Award for Entertainment), Cheryl Burke, Rob Schneider, Nicole Scherzinger (from the Pussycat Dolls), Dean Devlin and Cris Judd.
Entertainers of the Year Awardees -- Lani Misalucha and Martin Nievera -- have also been asked to perform as well as newcomer Anna Marie Perez de Tagle (from “Hannah Montana”) and singer Jessa Zaragoza among other surprises. The gala evening will be hosted by Philippine-based performer/entertainer Fernando “DingDong” Avanzado and producer/host of KSCI Channel 18’s “Kababayan L.A.”, Jannelle So.
The production team is headed by Hollywood director/producer Douglas Velasco, five-time Emmy-award winning writer Craig Heller, Art Director/Set Designer Scott Heineman (Art Directors Guild Award winner) and primetime Emmy Award Lighting Designer, Jeff Ravitz. The live show will be taped for broadcast on KSCI-TV, Channel 18, on March 16, 2008, 4:30-6:00 p.m. PST.
