Freda Contreras' Dateline Kuwait

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Pol de Jesus informed this writer of the ongoing development in the case of the Filipino caregivers in Kuwait. This was first reported in this article, Filipino Caregivers in Al Essa Medicare Co. of Kuwait Are Restless

Mr. De Jesus told this writer: “There were some minor disagreement and misunderstanding between the management and Ms. Tuburan and Ms. Limsan on the contents of the documents which they have to sign in the company and in Sho-On. But at any rate, everything is already finished with the intercession of this office. They are already booked on Friday (today, Feb. 8th) to leave Kuwait. The processing of the exit formalities of the next batch will follow and we will keep on monitoring the development of this case until the last worker who resigned has left Kuwait.”

In turn this writer e-mailed Mr. De Jesus:

Dear Labatt Pol,

Sorry, I missed responding promptly to this your email. Natambakan po ako ng mga emails (I was swamped with e-mails). :(

Thank you so much for your continued vigilance and action on the problem of some women OFWs with their employer. You have always been fast in solving any problem or dispute and since my first encounter with you in 2005 re the 114 stranded Filipinos in Kuwait, you have always been attentive to the problems being referred to you. I hope that all the rest of the Labor Attachés, and any government official at that, will be as action-oriented as you are. I am remembering now that pregnant runaway OFW who you immediately sent help to -- with just a phone call from me. No other POLO official, I know, is as caring and fast to respond and conscientious as you are. Keep up the good work.

And please don't get tired with my referrals and kakulitan (obstinacy), he  . . . he . . . he . . . I thank you no end for responding, each time, to me.

With my best regards,

Freda Contreras of Kuwait
