W
ashington, DC-based Filipino-American activist and writer Ado Paglinawan started an online discussion by asking how corruption could be curtailed or eliminated in the
Philippines. This writer took up the challenge and replied to Mr. Paglinawan.

Here is Mr. Paglinawan’s message dated 2/9/2008 9:12:47 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, which he posted in :

QUOTE.

I guess it has been established long ago that Gloria and Mike Arroyo are corrupt to the bone and are surrounded by many more who just suck the blood of the nation.

So what are we going to do about it? Talk some more?

The table is now open for suggestions.

But please let us not go into more manifestoes and signup sheets. Let us have something more deliberate and fatally terminal to their evil.

UNQUOTE.

RE: Back-to-the-basics Steps of Changing RP (Part I)

Dear Ado:

As we in the BalikLaban Movement have been saying, we simply have to work harder to mobilize the OFWs and dual citizens to join an OFW-led political party to contest the 2010 elections.

Even the Filipino senator whom you want to support for the presidency in the 2010 elections is part of the ruling clique. Almost all of the presidential timbers are in the Philippine Senate, and with the exception of Sen. Ping Lacson, all of them are receiving gladly the pork-barrel funds and spending them like any other traditional politician (trapo) does. In short, all the present political parties in the Philippines are controlled by trapos, who often become turncoats. Today, they are with the opposition, the next month they are with the ruling clique. We, the OFWs, are the real political opposition in the Philippines, especially if the dual citizens in the United States and Canada join us in this political exercise.

The OFWs and the dual citizens have to come together and organize a grand strategic alliance to win the presidency, the vice presidency and a good number of seats in the Philippine Congress and local governments. We have to raise enough human-and- financial resources, so that we can out-organize, outmaneuver, outwit, outsmart and outspend the trapos' existing parties.

And we have to come up with doable socioeconomic and governmental platforms that we should finalize by accelerating the completion of feasibility studies and doing an inventory of the economic resources of every province and city in the Philippines. A summary of our socioeconomic/political platforms is found in this article,  The OFW-led Political Party's "Vision RP 2021" Master Plan

After winning the 2010 elections, then we can run after the assets of the crooks in the present government and even in the past administrations. We should move to "reinvent" Philippine-government agencies, even the Philippine military. How to do it? I have written these articles to combat corruption and get back some, if not all, of the stolen public funds, and by launching crash programs where the pork-barrel funds are channeled to a nationwide reforestation campaign, among others :

Reinventing the Philippine Military to Prevent the Coming of a Junta

Reinventing the Philippine Military (Part Two)

Reinventing the Philippine Criminal-justice System

Funding Reforestation as a Solution to Global Warming

More details in Part II . . .

This statement of describing President GMA as corrupt is way out of line, for she is not a corrupt president but being surrounded by corrupt officials and supporter, at least when it comes to alleviating or reducing poverty she has done better than the previous presidents since the real established Democracy Peoples power edsa revolution, at least she was true to her words in creating a million jobs a year as what is really supported by the philippine census or NCSO, not the comelec which is really tainted with corrupt officials that had recently resigned because of the NBN scandal. The real problem of the philippines is Poverty that resulted to corruption where government officials are keen in accepting bribes as what the transparency international has unveil, to establish what priority that is to be done, it should first create a mechanism for the Comelec to really chose an official elected President with no anomalies or dagdag bawas whatever they call it, it can be done just like what other asian countries like India, who can really count votes of around 400 million people compare to the philippines about 50 million voters. the first road to success is an honest to goodness presidential election without any anomalies, just as simple as that.

maraming pwedeng gawin at magdedepende na lang sa iyo kung ano ang kaya mong gawin.

In 2001 we went out on the streets in our hundreds of thousands, marched to Mendiola, and forced Estrada to resign. If we again march to Mendiola in our hundreds of thousands, perhaps even in our millions, would Gloria not resign? This requires that we organize ourselves in some groups and actively join mass mobilizations.

Or, we can wait for July and file another impeachment case and hope that we are the first to do so and not some lackey of the Palace who will file a weak impeachment case. Then hope that the congressmen would think for themselves and would not be influenced by money and favors, and so would endorse the impeachment charges to the Senate.

Or, as the CBCP says, pray and pray hard.

Or, just be silent and focus on earning a living since life is hard, let Mike and Gloria Arroyo and their friends do their thing unhampered, and see what happens next.

It is really one's choice what to do in this situation.

Why is it that the incumbent president is ALWAYS worse than the previous ones?

If you find yourself agreeing with that statement, ask yourself another question. Why would you want to speed up that process?
