Sorry, Noli, but the presidency is not always equipped with a tele-prompter. In fact you should also resign and return to your masters at ABS-CBN. The Lopezes have as much historical evil as the resident evil now in Malacanang – Ado Paglinawan

Itappears that there is a move, nay, there are moves among Filipino decision makers to go after Filipino Vice President (VP) Noli de Castro and make him the Filipino counterpart of disgraced American Vice President (VP) Spiro Agnew.

“Spiro Agnew” who? Some young Filipinos and Overseas Filipinos may not remember VP Agnew. Here is, therefore, a good biographical sketch of Mr. Agnew, U.S. Senate: Art & History Home > Spiro T. Agnew, 39th Vice ...

http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/common/generic/VP_Spiro_Agnew.htm

After the Watergate Scandal surfaced, then President Richard M. Nixon and his strategists thought that by offering VP Agnew as some kind of a sacrificial lamb, the political heat would go away. Mr. Nixon’s opponents also backed off temporarily because they knew that VP Agnew had some ugly skeletons in his political closet. Yes, Mr. Agnew accumulated the skeletons while he was a county executive in his home state of Maryland. The American decision makers thought that it was bad for the country to have Mr. Nixon be replaced by another crook in the person of VP Agnew. The rest is history and indeed Mr. Agnew was forced to resign the vice presidency in utter shame. Mr. Agnew’s resignation did not of course save President Nixon, who was also forced to resign later. Yes, President Nixon was forced to quit but only after then Congressman Gerard Ford was sworn in as Vice President. After all, Mr. Ford was a clean-cut member of the American Establishment, perhaps even a favorite of the military-industrial complex.

Perhaps President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s (PGMA’s) political strategists have already recommended an Agnew-like maneuver, if her camp wanted to prolong her Dispensation. It seems that there is now a campaign to make the Filipino Vice President follow in the footsteps of Mr. Agnew.

VP De Castro should remember the Chinese proverb: “If you live in a glass house, do not throw stones at your neighbors.”

Text messages are now going around in Metro Manila accusing Mr. De Castro of gifting a lady friend with a 200-million-peso mansion in a Makati City subdivision. Several Philippine senators have asked the Filipino Fourth Estate to ask Mr. De Castro to address the rumors of corruption and immoral conduct. Of course, the camp of Sen. Loren Legarda, who came in second in the vice-presidential election of 2004, should be very much interested in the result of this smear campaign. If VP De Castro is forced to resign, would not Senator Legarda be the best nominee for the vacant vice presidency – from the viewpoint of poetic justice? What other financial scandals would be leaked to the press that would connect VP De Castro to scoundrels and scalawags? Do we hear a move to impeach VP De Castro in the PGMA-controlled House of Representatives?

There is also the argument on the part of the Legarda supporters that actually Mr. De Castro won because of the cheating done by the Arroyo-De Castro slate, as evidenced by the “Hello, Garci” tapes. In fact, Senator Legarda has been arguing that without the cheating done in the tabulation of votes, she would have won handily the vice presidency.

From what ever angle political pundits look at the situation of VP Noli de Castro, he seems to be the new personification of Jose P. Rizal’s political novel The Social Cancer (Noli Me Tangere) Introduction that is published in the www.DrRizal.com (a section of this website). Yes, it will be a pity if VP Noli becomes the caricature of “Noli Me Tangere” (pun intended), which means in English, “Touch Me Not.” If the Agnew-like moves against Mr. De Castro continue to escalate and succeed, who would want to touch Mr. De Castro (and shake his hand) even in the morning of his last day in office as Vice President?

And finally, here is my unsolicited advice to VP De Castro. Please remember the Chinese proverb: “If you live in a glass house, do not throw stones at your neighbors' homes.” # # #

The Vice President is projecting the image that he is above the squabbles. His message is loud and clear: Leave the vice to his own device.

Noli Me Tangere.

What does the future hold for him?

He should consult a palmist, not a mind reader. Because he has a palm.

I was told that, as a broadcaster, his favorite news program was CBS’s 60 Minutes, which took him an hour-and-a-half to watch.

Good for him, GMA’s 24 Oras was in the rival network.

This move to oust VP de Castro ala-Agnew smells fishy. And if ever the "movers" succeed, it will leave a lingering bad taste in the mouth.

By a strange conspiracy of events, VP Noli epitomizes all contradictictory forces.

He is our best hope for constitutional, peaceful, orderly transfer of power. He is the least desirable leader.

If we desire true, meaningful, radical change, he embodies the status quo. He has to if he has to survive. All the powers-that-be--the presidential wannabes, the military top brass, the tycoons, the bishops--don't want someone who'll rock the boat, wreck their hold on power, demolish their chances at the presidency, and ruin their status in life.

This explains why Noli talks of no changes in the status quo. The very idea he will assume the presidency is a threat to all ambitious men/women. Noli has to make it appear their ambitions are not totally ended if he's president.

We want a man for the masses. Noli is a creature of one of the giant business behemoths whose appetite for power and money will put to shame Mike's and Gloria's insatiable greed.

dear "vice" president de castro,

sorry noli, but the presidency is not always equipped with a tele-prompter. in fact you should also resign and return to your masters at abs-cbn. the lopezes have as much historical evil as the resident evil now in malacanang. nag-iingay ka lang Ngayon dahil Hindi na rin makuha ng mga lopezes ang gusto nila kay gloria dahil hinaharang sila ng mga razon, ang think-tank ni FG.

since you were elected, you were never with the people. where were you when the fertilizer scam was exposed? with gloria. where were you when hello garci was exposed? with gloria. where were you when Congress acting as the National Canvasser cheated fernando poe jr.? with gloria. nasaan ka sa 1,000 extra-judicial killings? with gloria. where were you when the north rail scandal came out? with gloria. i can go on and on but from day one of your vice-presidency and cannot recall anyday you were not with gloria. even now, sabi mo nga you are not yet preparing to take to over, you are still with gloria.

the people's big problem is even when gloria leaves, you will still be with gloria. aba e Bakit ikaw naman ang makikinabang sa pag-alis ni gloria, e ikaw ang golden parachute niya? ginagago mo Kami. in fact si gloria ang bisyo mo that you cannot shake out, kaya ka nga tinawag ka na "vice" president. mag-resign ka na rin, wala ka namang pakinabang sa bayan, kabayan, wala ka pang Alam kundi magpataas ng "payola" para tapatan ni FG. ubos na ba yung $5m nabinigay niya sa iyo sa hongkong noong 2005 kaya tumahimik ka? lumang tugtugin kana, matagal nang kumita ang mga linya mo. yang mga gagong tumutulong sa iyo, mga taga-salo rin yan ng amo mo. ngayong lumalaki na ang butas ang Bangka ni gloria, sinabayan mo na kaagad ng trial balloon.

well may karayom ako, kaya huwag kang lalapit sa akin. hindi lang ikaw ang puedeng pumalit kay gloria following the constitution. when both gloria and you resign, the constitution mandates the senate president to assume as acting president and call within 60 days a snap election to fill the vacancies.

e Sino ba ang senate president? hindi ba yang si manny villar, who in his capacity (then in 2001) as speaker of house, ang immediately nag-endorso ng impeachment ni erap estrada for senate trial, starting a whirlwind of events that pushed Edsa Dos to success?

gloria, noli RESIGN!

Noli wants to be president. He says he is ready.

"Look, look, see, I want to scrap EO464. I am for it, like the Bishops say it is holding us from finding the truth. Then it must go." That statement makes him ready for the presidency. So he thinks.

If EO464 goes, so goes GMA.

If GMA goes, will Noli be in?

With the present clamor for truth and the temper of the aggrieved and determined people, I guess not. In the process of change Noli will be swept into the dust bin.

He speaks a little too late. But he is no fool. A fool he isn't. That is what he says and believes. It is not the truth though. Hey, the time has come to campaign for the 2010 presidency and so he starts his with an opening salvo of, "Scrap EO464, let the truth come out!" His siding with the people at this time is so obvious.

That is not going to fool the people. That is not going to erase the fact that he has been with GMA all along in her years of damning the people's interests. He is an accomplice to the very marrow of his bones.

His starting salvo carries another not so hidden message. Don't this guy fool you again, Folks. He reckons that if GMA is ousted legally then he becomes president for two years, enough time for him to amass millions of illegal election campaign funds, rev up his political machine for a smooth win in the presidential election in 2010.

If it is the wish of the people that he will succeed I guess he has to. Then the people will have the added pleasurable task of ousting another evil.
