The YouTube video called, "Pagpag" is the latest indictment against the presidency of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. It is actually a documentary film by "Sine Totoo," or "Cine Reality." Jacel Arqueros wrote and produced it, as based on the research of Nick Samson.

Please watch it again by clicking to this website’s link Pagpag or go to this URL:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPg5IH4O7lM

The video is really disgusting!  Thanks to President Arroyo and her clique, the Philippines is no longer known as the “Pearl of the Orient” but the “ARMPIT of Asia.”  The medical/sanitation people in Arroyo’s government have claimed that they didn't know that this exists?  Because of hunger, poor Filipinos have been reduced to eating “kanin baboy.” Pagpag is only a pretty term for “kanin baboy,” which is the colloquial term for left-over food that is fed to hogs.

This film must be shown to the whole world.  People, especially Overseas Filipinos, must know how bad the situation in the Philippines is.  Clearly, there's a hunger crisis that's going on there now.

Here are the other comments about the Pagpag video posted in a e-forum that I participate in:

From Jess Farrales of Chicago, Illinois:

Pagpag is now getting popular as a good source of business and food on the table for the common people in the Philippines.

“I agree with you, Jesse Jose, dahil kay President Arroyo’s corrupt governance . . . our people are going to the dogs . . . whether you call it Pagpag is a source of business/income . . . it is still the ‘kanin baboy’ business that we know of during our time in the Philippines.”

From the screen name, Ccayamanda:

“First time I heard of ‘pagpag’ and it is very upsetting to see our people in the lower-economic level reduced to this level of urban existence. It may get worse because of our unabated population growth (90 million and counting with a growth rate of 1.8%!). Our government should have initiated a ‘zero population growth’ program yesterday!”

From Don Azarias, also of Chicago:

“I still haven't looked at it because I don't have the guts to handle what's in there based on the comments that I've read. My heart bleeds for our kababayans who are eating ‘kanin baboy’ while we, fortunate ones, have everything we can ask for in this land of plenty. Our less-fortunate brothers and sisters back home have to do what they are doing in order to survive. Never before had this happened to our people; not during the Spanish regime; not during the American and Japanese occupation and not during the administration of all our previous Presidents but only during the administration of the most-corrupt President in the history of our country, the shameless midget, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and, of course, her cohorts and all her partners-in-crime. Hell is even too good of a place for her to go. She is devoid of a soul and conscience.

“We should do something about this. You newspapermen should spearhead the move in bringing this to the world's attention or, at least, to the attention of the incompetent United Nations Organization. What do you think? Do we do something about it or do we look the other way?

“Jesus Christ once said: ‘Whatsoever you do to the least of my brother you do unto me.’  Isn't that enough to inspire us?”

From TDB of Virginia:

"It was very painful to watch.  I couldn't bear to finish it.

"Years ago, three of my kids and I climbed the infamous Smokey Mountain  on North Bay Blvd. in Metro Manila.  We were accompanied by a couple of Christian missionaries.  I wanted my children to see first hand how our poor people try to survive as scavengers as truck after truck of Manila garbage were dumped on that mountain of garbage.  They thought it was unbelievably pitiful.  When we got back to USA, they had a better perspective of life . . ."

From Manny Belbis, also of Chicago:

"This is terrible.  Can't believe this will happen to our country of origin.  How in hell the Philippines can produce smart people, if they eat 'kanin baboy.'?  Our dogs here in America eat better than our poor kababayans there."

My answers to the comments above:

Seeing that "pagpag" film brought a lot of emotions out of me.  It made me mad, it made me sad, it made me cry and many other kinds of disturbing emotions in between.  How the Arroyo gov't can allow this to happen is beyond belief.  This is worst than violation of human rights.  It's a form of degradation of our people to sub humans.

We, Fil-Ams and our Fil-Am associations, must do something about this.  Instead of stepping on each other's toes, demanding from the US gov't the UNDESERVED pensions that the FilVets have been asking for, we should all join forces, redirect our focus and condemn this disgusting phenomenon.  JJ

Bravo and "attaboy", Jesse, you have a heart of gold! I was finally able to see but unable to finish the film because I got sick and threw up. You are right, some of our own people are now reduced to subhumanity. The crooked midget will later order her cohorts to "let those hungry people eat cake."

I wish we can behead her!

When i watched this pagpag video i feel sorry for our kapwa pinoys. Arroyo govt.should stop corruption because you have so much in your pockets and when you live this world you can't bring them. When you meet your creator will He ask you how much money you have? He will ask you how many starving people did you help? Tama na ang corruption...ibahagi na ninyo yung pera sa mga mahihirap para matapos na ang pagkain ng mga mahihirap ng pagpag.

people should not blame the president because we have senators and congressmen who have their pork barrel which they can use to fund projects to generate income for the poor, then there is the local government who is supposed to address the needs of their constituents. I think it is part of their annual budgets. The president has a lot of things attend to. I hope more people would understand what delegation of work is all about. There are churches too who can help them. What about those who watched the video? Are we only up to commenting only and not do anything to help?
