The YouTube video called, "Pagpag" is the latest indictment against the presidency of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. It is actually a documentary film by "Sine Totoo," or "Cine Reality." Jacel Arqueros wrote and produced it, as based on the research of Nick Samson.

The video is really disgusting!  Thanks to President Arroyo and her clique, the Philippines is no longer known as the “Pearl of the Orient” but the “ARMPIT of Asia.”  The medical/sanitation people in Arroyo’s government have claimed that they didn't know that this exists?  Because of hunger, poor Filipinos have been reduced to eating “kanin baboy.” Pagpag is only a pretty term for “kanin baboy,” which is the colloquial term for left-over food that is fed to hogs.

This film must be shown to the whole world.  People, especially Overseas Filipinos, must know how bad the situation in the Philippines is.  Clearly, there's a hunger crisis that's going on there now.

"Years ago, three of my kids and I climbed the infamous Smokey Mountain  on North Bay Blvd. in Metro Manila.  We were accompanied by a couple of Christian missionaries.  I wanted my children to see first hand how our poor people try to survive as scavengers as truck after truck of Manila garbage were dumped on that mountain of garbage.  They thought it was unbelievably pitiful.  When we got back to USA, they had a better perspective of life . . ."

My answers to the comments above:

Seeing that "pagpag" film brought a lot of emotions out of me.  It made me mad, it made me sad, it made me cry and many other kinds of disturbing emotions in between.  How the Arroyo gov't can allow this to happen is beyond belief.  This is worst than violation of human rights.  It's a form of degradation of our people to sub humans.

We, Fil-Ams and our Fil-Am associations, must do something about this.  Instead of stepping on each other's toes, demanding from the US gov't the UNDESERVED pensions that the FilVets have been asking for, we should all join forces, redirect our focus and condemn this disgusting phenomenon.  JJ
