Jesse Jose Was Right on John Edwards’ (Fake) Character

On May 3, 2007, Jesse Jose wrote in his column, “Yes . . . The man (John Edwards) is a FAKE!  This son of a mill worker is no common man.  He’s a fancy man.  A pretty, pansy, fake.  Fakes, people and things, no matter how pretty, should be done away with.” At that time, Mr. Jose condemned the gentleman from North Carolina for spending $400 for a haircut.

Now 15 months and three days later, Mr. Edwards turns out to be not a gentleman. He admitted to an extra-marital affair but denied that he fathered the child his lover delivered. And the woman involved was not his barber. She was supposedly a producer of web campaign materials and paid by Mr. Edwards’ campaign committee $100,000 for four measly B-rated videos.

Take a bow, Mr. Jose, for judging correctly the character of a former Democratic presidential candidate. Perhaps, you will also end up telling correctly the character of the Democratic rival that Mr. Edwards endorsed after he ended his presidential quest.

Perhaps, Mr. Edwards would no longer be a viable politician for the rest of his life or even a lawyer at that. Perhaps, he should open a barbershop.

Here are excerpts from an Associated Press story about Mr. Edwards’ misadventure in the bedroom:

Edwards admits to affair, denies fathering child

The Associated Press
Friday, August 8, 2008; 3:18 PM

WASHINGTON -- Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair while his wife was battling cancer. He denied fathering the woman's daughter.

Edwards told ABC News that he lied repeatedly about the affair with a 42-year-old woman but said that he didn't love her. He said he has not taken a paternity test but knows he isn't the father because of the timing of the affair and the birth.

ABC said a former Edwards campaign staffer claims he is the father, not Edwards.

In 2006, Edwards' political action committee paid $100,000 in a four-month span to a newly formed firm run by Rielle Hunter, who directed the production of just four Web videos, one a mere 2 1/2 minutes long.

Hunter's daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, was born on Feb. 27, 2008, and no father's name is given on the birth certificate filed in California.

Former Senator Edwards was a top contender for the Democratic nomination for President. He placed second in the 2008 Iowa caucuses but dropped out of the race a few weeks later.Edwards, a former senator from North Carolina, was the Democratic nominee for Vice President in 2004. # # #
