You might have noticed the new (small) counter in our Front Page put up by our webmaster, Allan Albert, of the number of visits. You might perhaps refuse to believe that the number shown is 2.361-billion (spelled with a “B”) and counting. Yes, it is the number of visits (and not, repeat, not visitors). To illustrate: A visitor (who is directed by a search engine) goes to a link, and reads the linked article, then he/she clicks a section, then opens it and reads an article and then he clicks a Google ad and then goes back to another section and reads another article. The single visitor (reader) would be counted by the small counter as having made seven (7) visits.
The big counter on the bottom of the MabuhayRadio.com (MRc) Front Page counts only the readers who visit the Front Page. The small counter also counts the entry to the Front Page as one visit.
This web site turned only seven-months old last Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007. Our webmaster installed the counters only six days after he opened the web site on April 9, 2007. Yes, the MRc is the new kid on the online block.
It might be hard to believe that our number of visits has reached more than 2.361-billion (again spelled with a B). But if you check www.Alexa.com, which monitors online traffic, you will see the data that can make you really believe.
What this editor did was also to compare the MRc (a seven-month-old kid on the online block) with four of the leading Filipino-American web sites (that also publish hardcopy newspaper editions).
We compared the MRc to the asianjournal.com of Los Angeles, CA, (company has 16 years in the media), the balita.com of Glendale, CA (company is also 16-years old), filipinoexpress.com of New Jersey (company is 21-years old) and the filipinoreporter.com of New York (company is 35-years old).
Here is Alexa.com’s world-wide ranking (as of Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, 9:30 p.m.):
Editor’s Note: As several friends of Bobby Reyes wanted to know the ranking of philippinenews.com of San Francisco, CA, which was founded by Reyes’s number-one critic, we have, therefore, included the data about this newspaper. The Philippine News is supposedly now the oldest Filipino publication in the United States. The data were taken on Nov. 19, 2007, at 10:30 a.m.
asianjournal.com ------- 178,759
filipinoexpress.com ----- 247,697
philippinenews.com ---- 251,492
balita.com ----------------- 353,508
mabuhayradio.com ------ 565,943
filipinoreporter.com ------ 1,016,068
NEWS FLASH: The ranking of the mabuhayradio.com went up again. As of 11;30 p.m., Nov. 21, 2007, its rank is now 514,751. In three days, its ranking improved by 51,192 slots.
But insofar as the Alexa.com’s United States ranking of web sites is concerned, the results are different:
mabuhayradio.com ---- 61,840
balita.com ---------------- 96,024
asianjournal.com ------- 122,914
philippinenews.com --- 134,026
filipinoexpress.com ---- 223,842
filipinoreporter.com ---- 364,610
NEWS FLASH: The mabuhayradio.com's ranking in the United States is now at 54,180 or a climb of 7,660 slots. This is the highest ranking the web site has reached. Data taken at 11:30 p.m., Nov. 21, 2007.
The mabuhayradio.com is, therefore, the 61,840th most-active website in this country. The rankings go up and down every three days to one week or so. On Nov. 15, 2007, Alexa.com ranked the MRc as the 59,601st most-popular web site in the United States.
On the world-wide ranking, the MRc still has to break the half-millionth mark, although in just seven months, our ranking rose by more-than 7.5-million spots. This means that in popularity, the MRc overtook more-than 7.5-million other web sites, traffic wise.
How does Alexa.com arrive at its rankings? Well, technology has really advanced so much that the Internet can monitor all the activities, all the hits, page views and users.
The Alexa.com has a traffic ranking “based on a combined measure of page views and users (reach)” and here are the rankings (average is like the score in golf – the lower the number, the better):
mabuhayradio.com:
one-week average ------- 483,571
3-month average --------- 565,943
3-mos. change ---------- (+) 1,650,126
balita.com:
one-week average ------- 314,602
3-month average --------- 353,508
3-mos. change ------------ (-) 60,448
asianjournal.com:
one-week average ------- 244,209
3-month average --------- 178,759
3-mos. change ------------ (-) 53,178
philippinenews.com
one-week average ------- 291,429
3-month average --------- 251,492
3-mos. change ------------ (-) 32,093
filipinoexpress.com:
one-week average ------- 273,714
3-month average --------- 247,697
3-mos. change ------------ (+) 13,685
filipinoreporter.com:
one-week average ------ ----
3-month average -------- 1,016,068
3-mos. change ----------- (+) 141,157
The Alexa.com has also the classification of page views per user. This refers to the number of unique pages viewed per user per day (in this listing, the score is like in basketball – the higher, the better):
One-week Ave. 3-month Ave. 3-month Change
mabuhayradio.com 13.2 44.0 (+) 857%
balita.com 3.8 3.1 (-) 26%
asianjournal.com 1.7 1.5 No change
philippinenews.com 1.6 1.5 (-) 12%
filipinoexpress.com 1.3 1.9 (+) 36%
filipinoreporter.com --- 1.9 No change.
The performance of the mabuhayradio.com can easily be explained by the fact that its staff is posting several new articles per day, seven days a week. Aside from that, the fact is that most of its writers are beholden to no one. The independence of its staff writers attracts many readers who love journalists, contributors and columnists who observe religiously the Freedom of the Press (First Amendment of the Unites States Constitution).
It is still too early to tell if the trend will continue. But our corporate goal is to be ranked below the 100,000 rank of web-site popularity in the world during our second annual anniversary, which is April 9, 2009. From the looks of it, we may hit the target perhaps six-months to a year ahead – as long as we continue on posting well-written, well-researched objective articles.
Our writers, webmaster, editors and support staff say, “Thank you, Dear Readers,” for your continued patronage and support. You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. # # #
Care to explain to the readers?

The Counter (the green one below it) only counts "sessions" from identifiable Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari - as typically used by humans when browsing the web - it reflects the human side of the equation.
What is remarkable to me about the findings of Alexa.com is the 3-month average of "unique pages viewed per user per day." The MabuhayRadio.com has a 3-month average of 44.0 pages, while the five Fil-Am "national" newspapers's web sites have a combined average of 9.9 pages only. It is not only the frequency of your posting (daily against the weekly posting of your competitors) but also the quality of the articles. I have read many of the articles and I must say to you, your columnists and contributors, "Keep up the good work."
Congratulations,
