Are We a Race of Suckers?

                                    Sen. Nene Pimentel

Philippine Senator Pimentel used “Suckers” in his privilege statement in the Philippine Senate only on Dec. 17, 2007. To read his speech, please just click on the above hyperlink.

This writer was way ahead of Senator Pimentel in writing about the Filipino suckers, especially those in the United States. Perhaps, if our US-based Filipino suckers were to go home, they may swell the ranks of their local counterparts. This could lead to the spread of what I termed, “Suckeritis,” which afflicts many members of the NaFFAAS (the National Federation of Filipino-American Associations of Suckers).

I wrote on Nov. 8, 2007, these lines: “The financial insolvency of the NaFFAA is compounded by the intellectual bankruptcy of many of its NEOs (national executive officers) and some of its regional-chapter officers. Please read the message of the new NaFFAA state chairwoman for Pennsylvania, Aida Navidad Rivera, MD. It seems Dr. Rivera suffers from Suckeritis (sic), a disease that some Filipino Americans suffer. Suckeritis (sic) is the malady that dupes individuals like Dr. Rivera into acting as if they were born just yesterday. Of course, this comes from the idiom, ‘Suckers are born every minute.’” To read the complete article on Filipino-American suckers, please click on this link The NaFFAA Is Bankrupt Not Only Financially But Also Intellectually

On Nov. 4, 2007, I wrote another article about the Filipino-American suckers in this article,

Many Filipinos Suffer from Amnesia and Alzheimer Pandemic Diseases? (“Psyche” Series’ Part7)

Earlier I wrote on Oct. 13, 2007, about the NaFFAAS, oops, NaFFAA suckers. To read the article in its entirety, please click on this link

Melegrito, Diaz, et al, Are Born-again Suckers While Rodis Sucks in Gullible Fil-Am Physicians

Indeed, it is worrisome that San Francisco-based Filipino-American lawyer, Rodel Rodis, could make suckers out of Filipino-American physicians. Suckeritis has spread in the medical profession.

Well, I wrote an Erap joke in 2000 in the then www.yimby.com. I said that the President, who was scheduled to go to Brazil on a state visit, was asked if he knew the Brazilian national game. Well, he replied in the affirmative and even said that he knew the national motto of Brazil, which was “Soccers (sic) are born every minute.” Oh, well, that really sucked!

But am I really glad that Senator Pimentel used the same term, “Suckers.” At least now, my articles have the layman’s equivalent of an imprimatur from one of the country’s most-respected national leaders. # # #
