Art is “one of the most powerful languages humans have ever invented.” An artistic statement through a photograph, a painting or other art forms, can deliver a message with instant impact. Hence, art plays a critical role in environmental protection and sustainable development. It can promote a deep understanding of our natural world and encourage caring for, and positive action on, our environment.

Hear more about this topic on Jan. 16, 2008, (Wed., 6:30 - 7:30 PM, DZRH-AM radio) when Kalikasan, Kaunlaran! features Art and the Environment with noted photographer Isa Lorenzo and John Silva, Sr. Lorenzo is the director of the  Silverlens Gallery. Silva is an advocate for the arts and heritage preservation and consultant, National Museum of the Philippines. Conversing with them in Tagalog-English is the KK! director and host, Dr. Cora Claudio. She is a photography hobbyist and president of the EARTH Institute Asia.
  
You are also invited to join the Kalikasan, Kaunlaran! (KK!) projects, contests, and campaigns. You may join all of them if you are a registered KK! listener. Corp., Manila Jaycees, Carica, GREEN Army, DENR, MAP and others. The contests offer cash prizes and the projects provide livelihood while protecting and enhancing the environment. Coming soon is a new contest on water, the theme of the 2008 Earthday and the World Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain.
  
KK! is co-produced by EARTH Institute Asia, Inc. and DZRH, with the cooperation of MAP, GREEN Army, PFST, TOWNS, PBE, AIJC, PEIA, DENR, and others.
