I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?—Robert Redford, actor and environment champion

I ndeed, what is there to defend when people are dying from respiratory diseases and cancer due to a highly polluted environment?

Fortunately, the Armed Forces of the Philippines recognize that national security includes defense of our resources, as well as defense of our rights. That task includes environmental rights and political rights.  This period is a most challenging one for the military as it defends both rights of Filipinos toward peace and development. How is the AFP responding to the challenges?
