But we, at EARTH Institute Asia, have added to those three Ps two more critical ones—Person and Peace. Now we are adding “Pinay Power”—with double P! Filipino women have played a major role in nation-building, especially in environmental protection, in the The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women, referring to the 2008 statistics, said that Filipina women abroad are “generally accorded with low regard or even get discriminated because 54.7 percent of the total female Overseas-Filipino Workers (OFWs) were laborers and unskilled workers. The result is that remittances from female OFWs worldwide were relatively lower than their male counterpart.” It is, thus, noteworthy when some Filipino women not only excel professionally in foreign countries but also contribute significantly to the upliftment of other Filipino women and the sustainability of their host countries, while continuing to help the
