S ustainable development, especially now that planet Earth is seriously threatened by the life-threatening impact of climate change, demands partnerships between and among all types of people. All human beings need to work together now to fight for their survival and the sustainability of the world.

But Muslims and Christians in the Philippines have a long history of conflicts and hostilities. What are the sources of such conflicts and hostilities? How may they be overcome so that Muslims and Christians can work together peacefully and become partners for sustainability of the country and, eventually, of the world?

These questions are not easy to answer but understanding the historical context and the issues will be a good starting point. Kalikasan, Kaunlaran! (KK!) will attempt to promote such understanding toward mutual respect and partnership for peace and the common good between Muslims and Christians. Tune in/watch KK! for an initial discussion on the topic on July 15, 2009, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Manila time), at DZRH-AM radio (666 in Metro Manila, other kHz nationwide), TV (Ch. 9 in Metro Manila, other cable TV channels nationwide), and Internet (http://dzrh.tripod.com or http://dzrh.prepys.com).

G uests are His Royal Highness, Prince Omar Kiram Dux De Legazpi Duque De Vivar-Maniquiz, Grand Prince and Prince Marshal and Senior Minister, Royal Sultanate of Sulu and Sabah; The Honorable Lady Datin Anita Sese-Schon, LRSS, Lady Datin of The Royal Order of Sulu and Sabah; and H.E. Count Sharif Gen. Habib Adz Ganih Nikabulin, Sultanate Home Minister, Minister for Sharifs' Affairs and Deputy Foreign Minister, MNLF Commanding General of the Mindanao Composite Taskforce Command and MNLF Political Emissary.

They will also discuss initiatives that are now being taken by Muslims for the sustainable development of the Philippines and the additional measures that may and should be taken by both Muslims and Christians for their effective partnership for peace and the sustainability of the country. Dr. Cora Claudio, president, EARTH Institute Asia, will moderate the discussion.
