UltraTek Presents a Modern Adaptation of the Famed Philippine Rice Terraces as the Model for its Version in Sorsogon Province at the Consumer Electronics Show-2015
Dateline Los Angeles, CA, Jan. 4, 2015, MabuhayRadio News Service

U ltraTek will display at the its booth at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show a Philippine Tourism poster of the famed Banaue Rice Terraces, which is more-than a millennium-old  version of "vertical farming" by ancient Filipinos. UltraTek is a technology research-and-product development company based in Southern California.
Engr. Joseph Lai is negotiating with the Sorsogon rice-terraces proponent Bobby M. Reyes about a joint venture to construct modern versions of the Banaue Rice Terraces. The modern agricultural terraces will be equipped with electronic gadgets, including solar panels, a mini-wind farm and "micro-hydro" paddle wheels to recycle water, produce electricity for the pumps and nearby houses of farmers. The project can also be the site for cellphone towers and a reinforced modern school building that will serve as a sanctuary for students, their teachers and families during a calamity such as typhoons that periodically hit the Philippines. Mr. Reyes calls the sanctuary the "Schanctuary" that can survive disasters and which will be equipped with electronic equipment and relief supplies. Designs of the "Schanctuary" -- as drafted by Malaysian-based Sorsoganon Architect Carlos Lagunilla -- will be available for public viewing at the UltraTek Booth 72967 at the CES-2015.

Engineer Lai and Bobby Reyes say that constructing modern versions of the ancient Philippine rice terraces is a must, as "vertical farming" may be the only way to produce rice and other cash crops should the rising sea level inundate rice fields in the Philippines and other countries as a result of Global Warming. The proponents will also offer "naming rights" to interested corporations or individuals that want to use the project in highlighting their commitment in addressing Climate Change.

The Taiwanese-American high-tech company will partner also with Reyes' group in doing Research-and-Development (R&D) Centers in both Sorsogon Province (Philippines) and possibly in Pahrump, Nye County, Nevada. Mr. Reyes says that his associate, Tonie Sison, has offered his properties at Pahrump as site for what the Filipino duo calls the "Silicon Desert of Nevada." They have registered the domain name,, for the project that will bring in R&D Center of several interested Southeast-Asian countries.

O ne of the projects in the Philippines that UltraTek is interested in helping is the so-called "Project 2021," which will involve the computerization of, and building IT infrastructures for, schools, private-and-government offices, businesses and homes starting in Sorsogon, as a pilot province. Mr. Reyes says that "Project 2021" calls for moving the Philippines "from the 20th century to the 21st century by year 2021." He says that his group has proposed the project to be done nation-wide should Sen. Grace Poe, a leading contender, win the May 9, 2016, presidential election. Senator Poe is a former Montessori school teacher in Fairfax, Virginia, and she is an alumna of Boston College. She may want to become the "Education President" of the Philippines and make the "Project 2021" the center piece of her 6-year term from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2022.
UltraTek is looking for partners in doing its various manufacturing and R&D projects in the United States and in the Philippines. For more information, please contact Joseph Lai at (310) 408-9711 or e-mail or see his team and exhibits at the CES 2015 at Las Vegas Sands, Booth 72967. # # #
