O ne of the popular songs that defined the era of baby boomers in the Philippines is called "Pers Lab" (a phonetic translation of the English phrase "first love") which instantly made a hit of its singers, the Manila-grown Hotdog Band.


Four decades later, the song is still listed as part of a repertoire of a new generation of young artists performing in public concerts, especially in Toronto where its writer and composer, Mon Torralba, has quietly settled from dizzying years of wide acclaim.

A concert in downtown Toronto honored songwriter Mon Torralba as "magiting na kompositor" (or great composer) for his contributions to Philippine music, particularly during the early 70's. Philippine Consul General Pedro Chan handed the award.
