The families and town mates of the founder of the San Roque Church in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines, will celebrate the 7th year of San Roque Town fiesta in America in San Fernando Valley on Friday, August 15, 2008.
This was announced by the families of the founder Don Pedro Cabal-Socorro and Dona Francisca Jacinto-Socorro through their daughters Penafrancia Socorro-Salas and Eladia S. Espiritu. The families and friends as well as the town mates of the founders celebrate their fiesta in America for seven years now.
The present San Roque Church located at Manuel Dela Fuente St., Sampaloc, Manila, started as a small chapel in 1939 and formally became a parish in 1987. Dedicated formally by Cardinal Jaime Sin of the Philippines, San Roque is the powerful patron saint of the sick and the suffering. It was formerly owned by the Socorro family and was turned over to the Roman Catholic Church of the Philippines in 1967.
