Dear Ka Jesse: 1.0 With due respect to Sen. Noynoy C. Aquino, many of my peers in Southern CA and else where in the United States and Canada do not believe that he is qualified to run for the presidency of our homeland. 1.1 He has done nothing extra-ordinary in the Senate and even in the House of Representatives. 1.2 He has not even written a single article that explains what he wants to do with his life as a scion of a rich family of oligarchs, how to use his wealth, power and influence to attain progress for his fellow citizens in Tarlac (and much more for the Philippines). 1.3 He has done nothing to alleviate the plight of the tenants and the agricultural workers at their clan's Hacienda Luisita. 1.4 The guy will fare badly when he is grilled during the presidential debates by the moderators, by the press and the other candidates. 2.0 With more respect to the memory of the late President Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino, I wrote this letter in 1995 to the Pearl S. Buck Foundation and which letter is reproduced in this hyperlink, 2.1 As a serious student of Philippine presidential history, I believe that eventually the Filipino people will rate the Cory Cojuangco-Aquino presidency as a so-so Dispensation, which did more harm than good to the country. Please see read again for my reasons, 2.2 The presidency of a country is a serious business. Any Filipino aspiring to become President must come close to what I call the "Ramon Magsaysay Line," as explained in this article, Reinventing the "Ramon Magsaysay Line" in Solving Philippine Political Problems Perhaps your column will and should start an honest-to-goodness examination of the qualifications, the track record, performance and experience of Sen. Benigno C. Aquino III. For as some Filipino-American pundits crack in jest, perhaps you have to clone Senator Noynoy twice, so that the three of them could come up at least a third of what Ninoy Aquino was or even of what Sen. Nene Pimentel is. Mabuhay, Lolo Bobby M. Reyes, a Sorry, oops, "Cory Crusader" in the Snap Election of 1986
