ABUSED AND THE BATTERED MAN--Atlas Publishing Inc., Philippines, Copyright 2009 The book has eight chapters and it discusses the issue of battered men and women, a topic not readily discussed in Philippine Society. Republic Act 9262 is a law that took effect in March 2004, which gives women and children but not adult men the oppurtunity to get a court protective order in order to stop the violenceand/or to stop the abuse. Twenty-five (25%) percent of society had experienced some form of abuse, and at least 5-percent of the victims are men. There are no implemented batterer-intervention programs nationwide. The Philippines needs more clinical psychologists and psychiatrists to help flesh out a preventive program on anger management, forgiveness, and the temperance of jealousy. Out of the eight chapters, six discuss the battered woman, who needs a safety plan to escape from an abusive relationship. This book hopes to end the inequity that men can not get a protective order. Never retaliate. Stop the violence regardless of gender.
