The exhibition entitled “Through My Father’s Eyes: The Filipino American Photographs of Ricardo Ocreto Alvarado (1914-1976)” was previewed on 19 September 2008 in San Diego, California.
Alvarado, who emigrated to the U.S. from the Philippines in 1928, documented postwar Filipino-American life. His collection offers a poignant portrayal of the Filipino American community in San Francisco from the early 1940s to the late 1950s.
The exhibit is a collection of photographs offering rare insight into the emergence of the Filipino-American community in postwar America.
The exhibition will run from 20 September until 2 November at The New American Museum, 2825 Dewey Rd., San Diego, CA 92016. # # #
