C ienna Samiley can become one of the Philippines’ best hopes for an Olympic gold medal in 2016. She is a granddaughter of Delia M. Intia and her late husband, Romeo Intia, the founders of the Albay Services Group, Inc., a public-benefit corporation based in Los Angeles, California. She will be too young for the Olympic Games in 2012.

Cienna is a budding gymnastics’ star in Chandler, Arizona. She received four medals in a recent competition in Chandler. She has garnered a grand total of 22 medals since she started competing in gymnastics. However, she was so competitive that she did not want to start at her own Level-4. She instead joined the next level where she competed with older girls from seven-to-nine years old. Right now, she is the smallest and the youngest of the Gold Medal Level-5 gymnasts.

She joined recently the nationwide US Gymnastic TOPS contest and she successfully passed it with a very-high score for her age level.

N EWS UPDATE: Cienna participated in a gymnastic competition held last Saturday, October 10, 2009, in Chandler, Arizona. She was the top scorer at her age level for her team, the “Gold Medal Gymnastics.” She came in third place in the overall competition with other gymnastic teams. Cienna won five medals for her high scores in the floor exercise, beam balance, bar and the vault. Her next competition will be on October 25, 2009, in Phoenix, Arizona

After reading this article on Cienna Samiley, how would she qualify to represent the Philippines in the 2016 Olympics. I am interested for my son as well. As a Filipino American (Born in the USA), what are the qualifications required for him to represent and be part of the Filipino National gymnastics team? Is it required for him to have citizenship from the Philippines. I recall reading the Monteclaro Twins from California Berkley representing the Philippines and compete in the South East Asian games. What is the process to represent the Philippines if born in the USA?
