The information I gathered from one article I read on what went on after the December 30, 1896 Rizal's death execution by firing squad indicated that Josephine and Paciano were somewhere in the Bagumbayan grounds on that day. When evening came, the two were with a group of Katipinan members belonging to Andres Bonifacio's Magdiwan faction. Bonifacio was already days ahead in Cavite trying to mediate internal friction and rivalry between the Magdalos of General Emilio Aguinaldo and Andres magdiwang members. It was also mentioned that this last contingent of Magdiwang stayed in the houe of certain Mr. Mojica.
That evening Andres Bonifacio inducted new members where Paciano was given the rank of general while Josephine was inducted and given rank in the women auxiliary.
This was the prelude to the 1897 Tejeros Convention that turned violent where an election contest was held to which Bonifacio lost to Aguinaldo who was not even present in the meeting hall. Hometown psychology is the factor where no Cavitenos would dare see a kababayan losing to an outsider, more so a Manileno. The life of a militant and violent organization taht Bonifacio founded came to an end and a new revolutionary government replaced it with Aguinaldo as head.
Well, this is another episode for discussion in our history but one thing need repeating to quote Rizal's words in the mouth of a native priest Fr. Florentino in the FILI novel trying to elaborate the lingering FEAR when there is internal quarrel brought by greed and personal ambition, in the form of a question"
"WHAT GOOD IS INDEPENDENCE IF THE SLAVES OF TODAY ARE THE TYRANTS OF TOMORROW"!
Rizal's warning rings true and still relevant to this day.
