It is a clear conflict of interests. The Bush Administration is pushing to strip vital checks and balances from the Endangered Species Act. If it succeeds, the Administration will eliminate independent oversight and let federal agencies "self-consult" when deciding whether a project harms endangered wildlife.

We only have a few days left to stop this dangerous proposal – and we need your help to do it. Please speak out against this shameless effort to gut the Endangered Species Act »

The Endangered Species Act is a remarkable standard of American values. Thirty-five years ago – with the support of the Nixon administration – Congress enacted the current Endangered Species Act and put the U.S. at the forefront of wildlife protection. Only nine of the nearly 2,000 plants and animals currently protected by the Act have been declared extinct.

The Endangered Species Act has an astonishing success rate – it certainly doesn't need any "fixing" by the Bush administration. Help us fight back – please take a moment to sign the petition and protect this landmark conservation bill »
