Cabugao Association of Northern California (CANCA) Is One of the Oldest Fil-Am Clubs in the United States

 

S UNNYVALE, California (jGLi) – A Filipino-American couple in Sunnyvale, California is helping the local community keep an old tradition of Cabugenians in Santa Clara County alive by promoting this early the upcoming Cabugao International Grand Reunion on July 21-22, 2012 in Santa Clara, California.

 

Dan B. Andres and his wife, Josie L. Andres, business manager and adviser, respectively, of Cabugao Association of Northern California (CANCA), are inviting all Cabugenians all over the world to save the dates of July 21-22, 2012 so they can attend an annual tradition that dates back 76 years ago.

 

If for some reasons, the Cabugenians cannot make it to the event, they can always send in their contributions as benefactors by donating $1,000 that will be good for two dinner tickets, one advertising page and a copy of a video of the affair.

 

Sponsors, who will donate $500, will be entitled to one dinner ticket and a copy of a video of the affair.

 

Preferred seats will be available to the benefactors and sponsors and guests, who will prepay at a first-paid, first-served basis. A dinner ticket will cost $175 while a table of ten will cost $1,750. Deadline for reservation is June 1, 2012.

 

A one-page advertising will cost $150 while a half-page ad will cost $100. Only benefactors and sponsors and those who placed a one-page ad will be entitled to a copy of the souvenir program.

 

The highlight of the event will be the presentation and coronation of Ms. Cabugao International Reunion 2012.

 

POPULARITY CONTEST

 

P arties interested to join the popularity contest may be any lady, single or married, born or raised in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur in the Philippines, or born to a Cabugenian parent or, married to a Cabugenian.

 

Candidates may join the contest by soliciting ads before or during the last canvassing. Participating associations/groups can put up their own candidate with a minimum donation of US$3,000 raised thru advertisement, benefactor and donor solicitations. The candidate gets a ten percent commission if she is able to raise US$5,000 while the sponsoring organization will also get a ten percent share.

 

Canvassing of votes will be held on April 28, 2012 at a place to be announced later.

 

Proceeds of the event will go to the Cabugao Church Building Improvement Fund.

The event will open on Friday, July 20, 2012, with a welcome party at the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great American Parkway, Santa Clara, CA 95054. It will be highlighted with the Gala Night, Black Tie/Formal attire, on Saturday, July 21, 2012, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Mission City Ballroom of the Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA 95054.

 

A mass and picnic will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at a place to be announced later.

 

The CANCA was originally founded as Cabugao Farmers Association in 1936. Two years later, it became Cabugao Sons and Daughters Association.

 

Josie L. Andres, a retired Quality Technical writer of Philip Semiconductor Company (now NXP Semiconductor) in San Jose, California, has been president twice of the group, from 1992-1996 and from 2003-2006. Dan B. Andres, an electrical engineering graduate of Mapua Institute of Technology and a mechanical engineering graduate of Feati University, owns Andres Construction, a General Building Contractor, in Sunnyvale. # # #
