T he Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, the Filipino-American Services Group, Inc. (FASGI) and the Filipino American Educators of Los Angeles cordially invite the public and the members of the media to a Press Conference and Reception in honor of Dr. Vilma Logronio-Labrador, Undersecretary of Education, and National Chairman of the Commission of Arts and Culture, on Tuesday, 27 January 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rizal Hall, Philippine Consulate General, 3600 Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 500, Los Angeles, CA 90010.

 

During the press conference, Undersecretary Labrador will discuss, among others, the DepEd program on the teachers employed overseas who may be affected by the global economic crisis.

T he Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles will be closed on 16 February 2009 (Monday), in observance of George Washington’s Birthday, a U.S. holiday.

 

Regular consular services will resume the following day (17 February).

Pulongbayan on OAV Registration

 

 

C onsul General Mary Jo Bernardo Aragon welcomes participants to the “Pulongbayan sa Konsulado” on Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) Registration held on 22 January 2009 at the Rizal Hall of the Consulate General.

 

Under the law, all citizens of the Philippines abroad, not otherwise disqualified by law and who are at least eighteen (18) years of age on the day of the election, may file applications for registration as overseas absentee voters from 1 February 2009 to 31 August 2009.

 

They can vote for the President, Vice-President, Senators and Party List Representatives for purposes of the 10 May 2010 National Elections.

 

The voting period abroad for overseas absentee voters will be from 10 April 2010, 9:00 a.m., Philippine time, or 9 April 2010, 5:00 p.m., L.A. time, until 10 May 2010, 3:00 p.m., Philippine time, or 9 May 2010, 11:00 p.m., L.A. time.
