S ince the May 2004 Philippine national elections when the then de-facto incumbent  “won” her election as Philippine President, many of the members of the Media Breakfast Club (MBC) of Los Angeles celebrated Halloween as “Gloria Arroyo’s ‘Hollow Win’ Day.”

A “hollow win” is more-than the equivalent of a Pyrrhic victory.
