There is a delayed project to reprint the "READINGS ON BIKOL CULTURE." The booklet was first published in 1972 by the University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City, Philippines. There is a need, however, for Bicol music lovers to improve and finish the booklet’s chapter on Bicol music. The original 1972 edition just printed the lyrics of 24 Bicol folksongs. The songs were: Sarung Banggi, Lolay, Si Manang Pulana, Si Nanay si Tatay, Nagdudusa, Iyo Palan Ini, Kulaniban Kulasisi, Pahardin, Harana, Punay, Historia nin Pagkamoot, Nagtanom Ako Nin Kadlom (a Negrito song), Sinugo Ako Ni Arca, Sarampating Guminaro, Nunca, Sa Gabos na Horas, Burak na Maogma, Poon Kang Maheling, Nenang, Tanglad nin Gogon, Herak Man Simo Tugang Ko, Romerong Masetas, Dungaw Dungaw and Di Man Ko Nasiring. There are of course more folksongs in the Bicol Region than the 1972 edition printed. For instance in the Province of Sorsogon, there is a lullaby with the title, "Haen, Diin Nagkadto an Ido?" (Where Is, Where Did, the Puppy Go?), which lyrics used the Sorsogon dialect, instead of the Bicol language. We ask, therefore, readers who know the music of the 24 tunes and/or other Bicol folksongs not included in the list to contact this web site. collection of Filipino kundimans that is packaged for a global
market. Who knows? It might appeal not only to nostalgic Pinoys
but to an international market as well.
